BioHello! I'm a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Boulder working toward my Computer Science doctorate. I'm sure you're all wondering, "does she have what it takes?!" I know I am.
I'm fluent in English, remember some Spanish from my two years in high school (not enough to survive), I took a semester of German (so I can say "hi" and "how are you," but that's about it), and I'm working on becoming fluent in Japanese. I know how to procrastinate (and do it far too often!) and I love my caffeine. Though it isn't one of the high caffeine sodas, it's rather obvious that my favorite type of soda is Dr. Pepper. Yum. :)
Like all decent computer geeks, I have been to a few LAN parties (not recently, though) and built my own system. Though I'm fluent in speaking English, I am not fluent in writing it... so don't be fooled by my attempts at proper spelling/grammar!
I absolutely adore weather, especially severe, and have spent much of my life wanting to do something in that realm of things. That or travel... One day I might just end up "chasing" storms. Fortunately, I have enjoyed the time I've spent doing research. I'm really hoping to get further into NLP (natural language processing) research, as the entire area has come to fascinate me. Now, just to prove myself so that I can get a nice research position!
I have a cat named Panther, another named Delilah (sometimes I'd swear she's some sort of demon), and two ferrets - though technically they're my boyfriend's (named Loki & Kivu).
I'd like to become fluent in Japanese, any other spoken languages that happen to come my way, and all programming languages that I feel masochistic enough to learn. My main goals in life (if you happen to care that much) include: traveling the world, forming a charity that works toward better education in Africa, and getting a nice (and big) house. I firmly believe that if you put your mind to something (and take the time to follow through with it), then you can achieve anything. At least, that's what I keep telling myself!
The more you get to know me, the more you'll realize that I'm a very strange and perverse person with some serious issues. Most people seem to think that this little feature makes me "interesting." I like to think that it makes me fun.
Other than that, you'll have to read my journal to try and learn anything more about me... or catch me on messenger.
